What is it like to meet with a lawyer during the Pandemic?
Hi my name is attorney Christy Childers and I am speaking to you from my Home Office that I set up when the pandemic began. It is July of 2020 and our office has reopened but we are still meeting with most clients by video instead of in person. It’s up to you and here’s how it works.
Once you email or call me about your case, in our very first phone call I will ask you if you have a computer or an Iphone or an Android. If you do not have any of those or a printer, that’s okay! We will figure it out based on what you do have.
Options:
iPhone…Facetime
Android…Google Duo app video chat
Computer…Zoom video chat
Facebook…Facebook Messenger video chat
None of the above…Electronic signatures, mail, email, meet in person
I really feel like I can get to know you and meet you and learn your story when we can video chat but I have met with some people who have none of that and what we’ve done in that situation is we just speak on the phone for now, then using email, we use electronic signatures to sign the documents.
We can also set up an appointment for us to meet you or for you to come in and we will wear masks and follow the guidelines.
The last thing I want to say is I know the idea of meeting with a lawyer can be intimidating, but our meeting will be a lot like this, it is just a conversation with me where I learn more about you and your case. Then we go over documents.
Our goal at C&M is to make you totally comfortable with the process and take care of your case so you can focus on getting better or helping your loved one get better.
And when this is all over, and it will be, when we are back in the office full time, I may be wearing a suit instead of my casual work from home clothes, but it’s not going to change who we are – this is still what it will be like, whether we’re meeting by video or back at the office.
